Short description of each race/being
(only those allowed to play)
Muggles
Muggle (Britain) and No-Maj (United States, pl. No-Majs or No-Majes) are Wizarding cultural terms describing a person who is born to two non-magical parents and is incapable of performing magic. Although most muggles are the offspring of two muggles, the offspring of two squibs or of a squib and a muggle would be, by definition, a muggle. Muggles are not to be confused with Squibs, who also lack magic but are born to at least one magical parent.
Wizards/Witches
Wizardkind are humans that are born with the ability to perform magic.
An individual male human with magical ability is known as a wizard (plural: wizards), and an individual female human with magical ability is known as a witch (plural: witches), though "wizard" is sometimes used as a gender-neutral singular noun like "man".
Squibs
A Squib, also known as a wizard-born, is a non-magical person who is born to at least one magical parent. Squibs are, in essence, 'wizard-born Muggles.' They are rare and are looked upon with a degree of disdain by some witches and wizards, particularly pure-bloods. Muggle-born witches and wizards are descended from Squibs who married Muggles: the magical ability unexpectedly resurfaces after many generations.
Half-Giants
Half-giants are beings with some, but not a total, amount of giant heritage or blood, as well as part human blood. For instance, a human might have a Giant mother and a wizard father or vice versa.
Vampires
A vampire is a magical humanoid that is famed for biting people on the neck and sucking their blood. They are part of the family of beings known as the Living Dead.
Half-Veelas
A half-Veela is a cross-breed between a human (normally a wizard or witch) and a Veela. It is unknown if Veela can breed with Muggles, and it is unlikely that a Muggle would ever learn of the existence of Veela, thus most or all half-Veela will inherit magical ability from their fathers.
Werevoves
A werewolf is a human being who, upon the complete rising of the full moon, becomes a fearsome and deadly near-wolf. This condition is caused by infection with lycanthropy, also known as werewolfry. Werewolves appear in the form of a wolf but, there are distinctions between them and regular wolves.
